I've Been Put In My Place - 153,622,609th Place, To Be Precise [Nov. 15th, 2006|06:55 pm]
Young Geoffrey
I'm the 153,622,609 richest person on earth!

Discover how rich you are! >>

I know nothing about the group behind this, and frankly am suspicious it may be some kind of a scam, but I suspect it is also reasonably accurate.

Now, I earn a better living than I ever have before, but I certainly don't feel rich. To realize that I am in the top 2.56% of the world's richest people is a sobering thought indeed.

Yeah see - that's not right at all. Sobering is putting it mildly - how in hell large a scale is this?? I mean I make nowhere near what the execs do and surely...this is inaccurate!! Top 1.26% living paycheque to paycheque???

I suddenly hate Starbucks even more for no logical reason at all. (lol?)

I'm the 75,700,870 richest person on earth!

Re: ack

You should hate Starbucks. Their straight coffee is over-priced and their other "coffees" are really bad for you.

I suspect the meme-engine is pretty accurate. As ssurprize pointed out, we in the west consume a monstrous share of the world's resources.

Village Village Village

Thanks for those links, they are also useful illustrations of the disparity of the world's wealth.

And for the record, I wasn't surprised at my place on the economic ladder so much as sobered by the graphic illustration.
