Game of Thrones or Orphan Black? [May. 2nd, 2016|11:25 pm]
Young Geoffrey

Not that anyone cares (nor should they) but I for some reason feel compelled to announce publicly that I have grown so disenchanted with Game of Thrones I can't even be bothered to read episode synopses, let alone actually watch it any more.

Pity. It was fun for a a while.

But on the other hand, last week's Orphan Black made me squee like the greenest fanboy. If you're not watching it, why in the hell aren't you?

Happy (Orthodox) Easter, everybody.

That graphic. I'm dying.

I'm still watching both. I'm a week behind on both. It is v. difficult.

That graphic. I'm dying.

I thought of you the instant I saw it. Do you by some miracle read Soviet Russian? I'm curious about what it says.

You're going to love last week's OB — it's rich with Allisonisms.

You know, I can't remember if I've ever watched a show where I've really liked so many of the characters, and in so many different ways. (At the same time, most of them I wouldn't want to know in real life.)

Re: Translation?

I'm dying=laughing so hard I can't breathe.

According to Google translate, it's wishing you a bright Passover holiday. So probably "happy Easter."

OB's characters are something else. I can't think of another show where everyone is both likable and interesting and surprising. You normally get one or the other.

Re: Translation?

Easter, Passover, what's the difference, right?

I can't think of another show where everyone is both likable and interesting and surprising.

I'm not sure I'd say that everyone is likable, but they're all fully human. And so we can fully empathize even if we wouldn't want to hang out with them. Doesn't hurt that they can be genuinely funny, too.

Christ, I love that show ...

I quit GoT mid season last year and I'm much happier! Still love the book series but I'm totally over the show.

Not much happier ...

... but I'm sure as hell not missing it. As for the books, I think I'll wait to see where Martin manages to actually finish it before I give 'em a try.
