A couple of points

Sook-Yin Lee nails it almost perfectly with this: "I wonder sometimes if Canadian politics are purposefully presented in a dull fashion so that you don't pay attention. Controversial bills are passed and important information concealed when no one's paying attention. It makes it hard to sustain interest and keep the conversation going—when you're distracted by sensationalistic news, life, and other interests."

Except that more and more in recent years, we've been breaking the pattern. And the word is slowly getting 'round.

At first I feared just the Pravda-fication of CBC. The idea of HarperGov trying to achieve multiple goals with one omnibus bill - yet again - does make its own sense, given their history.

Yup, that's what omnibus bills are for, to keep us in the dark until it's too late.
