As you know, my computer has been giving me problems, leaving me without interweb access from home. On Monday I took the beast into its point of origin, APlus Computers at College and Spadina. Friday, they left a message for me saying I could pick up the box - there was nothing, they said, wrong with me ethernet card. And so, feeling like an idiot I picked it up after work, laying down $51 dollars for, apparently, no good reason.
But, whaddya know? I plugged everything in this afternoon and - well, here I am, online and typing happily away on lj.
Did my computer just want to get out of the apartment for a while?
Ah well, I don't understand, but I won't complain; until the fucker cuts out again.
This week's been quite the emotional roller-coaster for me, but - leaving aside the computer's decision to function again - it ended very well.
Friday saw me coming through the lunacy at work having reached the "acceptance" phase. I dont' have much confidence in management, but I do have a job, one that is better than many I can imagine.
Better still, I had the pleasure of a one-on-one session with sabotabby who is, if possible, even more witty and funny in person than she is in her journal. She also handles her beer like a Slav. We drank Rhino's dry then proceded to my place to conquer my supply. Chet (that's my cat; get with the program, people!) flirted with her outrageously and we carried on until sometime after 3:00 in the morning, at which point I had to pack it in. I have some vague memory of trundling Missnagativity into a cab - I don't think it was a police car, but at times like those, who can tell for sure? - then stumbled into a deep and contented sleep.
And now, my head a little fuzzy but remarkably, not throbbing, I am contemplating a quiet afternoon of watching hockey and looking forward to seeing L tomorrow.
Sometimes, life seems very good. (I wonder what will go wrong next.)
