Ayn Rand, Lying Sack of Shit [Jan. 28th, 2011|10:39 am]

According to this piece by Michael Ford, published last December at The Huffington Post, that paragon of anti-government self-reliance, that prophet of "liberty" and self-interest ...

I'll stop. The name in question is Ayn Rand, and the specific is that she and her husband signed up for ... wait for it ... Social Security and Medicare.

Which seems as good a time as any to point those who haven't read it to my essay on Rand's epic ode to mass-murder as a Good Thing, "Genocide Is Painless".

You've got a transposition in your title, which I initially read literally. As in "Any Rand is a lying sack of shit, including Ayn and Paul."

I was greatly amused to read this. Though it isn't surprising—even the most dyed-in-the-wool, off-the-grid libertarians are dependent on some sort of public good, even if it was only to educate them enough so that they could read Ayn Rand.

Damn. To keep or not to keep, that is a question

That's a pretty hilarious transposition, at that. But I suppose there are some Rands out there innocent of any libertarian tendencies, so I guess I'd better fix it.
