The CBC's weather page says it's -26 C out there (-35 with the wind-chill, but only small children and naked old people count that). I am recently home from a soirée, which I bicycled to and from which I cycled back home again. I've been reminded that the air in one's tires contract quite a bit at these kinds of temperatures, so it was slow and difficult slogging, but otherwise quite exhilarating. Why yes, I am kinda hard-core. Why do you ask? This entry was originally posted at http://ed-rex.dreamwidth.org/212655.html. Comment there using OpenID, or here as per normal.

I'm impressed. I used to use my bicycle to commute to and from work during the winters in Edmonton when I was a much younger man. It is very hard core!

Edmonton impresses me; unless I'm mistaken it's a wee bit colder than Ottawa. So kudos to you also!

Re: Edmonton?

Edmonton was pretty cold, but, to my surprise not quite as cold as Regina or Winnipeg and in the same neighbourhood as Quebec. http://www40.statcan.gc.ca/l01/cst01/phys08b-eng.htm
