... this is just cool.

I've known since I was in high school that the Greeks had developed steam engines, but only today did I learn one of those smart bastards not only thought of, but built, a computer.

It Wasn't "Steam Engine Time"

As I recall, though the principal was well-understood and even occasionally used, the only ones built were toys. Slave-power was simply much cheaper than building the infrastructure that would have been necessary for an industrial economy.
