Because I Can - Finally! (Pic-Post) [Jul. 16th, 2004|05:05 pm]
Young Geoffrey
As is so often the case with me, it took me quite some time before I got around to figuring out how to download pictures from my digital camera. But at last, I have done it. And so, without further ado,

First of all, I am (ahem) sure many of you have been pining to know just what Young Geoffrey looks like. Forgive me for posting a few samples.

and in colour.

As most of you know, I live with a cat, one Chet by name. Sadly, I accidentally deleted the shots I've taken of Spyder, so he will have to wait for another day. Now, it's time for Chet's star-turn:

Chet

Two cats? It makes sense I have two bicycles - but again, only one has yet been immortalized by my camera. Please enjoy the sight of my 40-year-old road bike.

Jeunet

Finally, a few shots from that urban paradise, the 401 Richmond building. All but the last were taken from the garden on the roof.

And finally ... one of the reasons I like summer as much as I do winter (amazingly, it even tasted good).

hmmfruuiit

And yes, I am aware of how lame these captions are. Whaddya want? I'm new at this particular form of exhibitionism.

What's that there book that says "Plague"?
It wouldn't happen to be a novel about the Bubonic Plague of the early 1300s, would it?
Please say it is.

I really wish I could. Sadly, I can't.

The Great Plague in London, by Walter George Bell, a revised and edited version of 1665 original. I haven't read it. I bought it somehow thinking it was by, er, somebody else.

(Jesus, but you have sharp eyes!)

You look far younger than the age you claim to be.
Chet's trying to seduce me.

I ain't claimin' nothin', my friend - I am 39 (don't make me take a photo of my birth certificate!).

If I was single, I think I would start taking Chet for walks. Women seem to almost swoon when they meet him.

Dude, my parents and all their friends are 39. They look nothing like you; must be from the non-stress of non-children, mayhaps?

Pfft. Take Chet out for walks regardless and use women for beer, drugs... you know how it goes. You'd be justified, you provided them with an 'awwww!' outlet for the day, and got something in return.

All right, it's true: I do look younger than my age. I'd chalk it up to clean living, but what with the drinking, smoking and other "enhancers" that just doesn't make sense. It must be the genes. My dad's family are all baby-faces.

Anyway, I'll take your advice under advisement; women need more "awwww!" outlets in this cruel world, don't they?

Chet is so beautiful. But he knows that, of course.

I think part of his charm is that he doesn't know it. He wanders through life thinking all cats are pretty. He's my little Egalitarian (the naive little beast).

Evidently, I'll have to take some shots of the other one, too. (It's a good thing my ego is structurally sound, else I'd be bitching that no one was saying such things about me.

That cat is way too cute, man. I want it. Smile for the camera, young Geoffrey. That rooftop garden is wonderful - do you work there or live there? I don't quite remember. *stalks you*

I'm not worried about torturing myself, it's the rest of my Gentle Readers about whom I am concerned. Some people read this at work, you know.

*kissies* to you too, my dear.

On the internet, we're all young.

But seriously, I've got 9 years on you, if your userinfo isn't false, so I have the right.

It's not dumb of you, but - closing in on 40 - I am unable to empathize.

(But, as someone once said - and as I have cited too often - getting old is far better than the alternative.)
