As for the most trivial item on that list?

And now Calgary knows how it felt for Edmonton when Pocklington unloaded Gretzky. And hockey conspiracy theorists have more grist for their argument that NHL policy is to prevent any Canadian team from ever winning the Stanley Cup ever again...

Re: As for the most trivial item on that list?

Oh come now! Gretzky was (maybe) barely past his prime; Iginla is very much on the downside of his. I think this is a case where Occam's Razor applies: Calgary was going nowhere and decided to trade Iginla (with the latter's permission, remember) while he was still worth something.

For whatever it's worth, I think Pittsburgh got him at a bargain price. Two minor leaguers and a draft pick, even if it was first-round ain't exactly selling out the team's future for the present.

Hmmm.

Well, we'll see how that goes for Pittsburgh.

As un partisans des Glorieux Pittsburgh already scared me; I can only hope your implication that Iginla will upset that team's chemistry is correct.
