Well, "Duh!" Department [Apr. 2nd, 2008|11:29 pm]
Young Geoffrey
I understand science, I really do. I understand that there is value in establishing something that common sense tells you is obvious. But sometimes, you've just gotta laugh: War exacts heavy toll on civilian mental health.

That's up there with "New Studies Show fish feel Pain", and "The Search for a Gay Gene Continues".... a little strange to me!
(Psst... you haven't RSVP'd for my birthday party on Facebook yet!)

I've Been Feeling Insecure

I know, I know. Mind you, I do understand that those studies are valuable. I can't think of a counter-intuitive result off the top of my head, but it would have been really interesting if that study had found that civilians who've gone through a war don't duffer from more mental illness!

As for the party, I've been hesitating in part because of things (now resolved) in my personal life, and also because, well, I checked out your list of confirmations and found myself feeling more than a little like the Old Man Out.

But I'm going to swallow the insecurity and hie myself off to Facebook to confirm. Now I just need to figure out what would be a suitable offering for a 20 year-old vegan, I'll be in clover ...

Dearest Queen of Inadequate Excuses,

The title of "Old Man Out" is up for me to decide, and if I've invited you, then evidently, it's not a concern of mine.
:)
I'd be delighted to have you there, even if you drop by for a bit.

Additionally, no offering necessary, but do pick up a goodie bag on your way out when you come by!

We're not hobbits. I'll think of something, though I fear it will be only a bottle of wine.

Re: I've Been Feeling Insecure

Who you callin' "Queen", woman? If anything, I'm a princess!

As a ne'er do well, in all seriousness, I'd actually decided to attend this afternoon, but do appreciate the nudge - as you know, my ego has been a little fragile lately.

Jesus god. Has it been five years since we first became LJ friends?!?

Re: I've Been Feeling Insecure

Has it been five? Ooh la-la, definitely a celebratory occasion, I think.
I do appreciate you attending, even if it involves sharing a drink and giggling non-stop.
After all, this isn't just any birthday.
This is 20. This is it.
(until 21, at least!)

Re: I've Been Feeling Insecure

Yes, I think it has been five years, more or less. And after last night's debacle (I really am glad you weren't home, I figure I've got an excellent ice-breaking anecdote with which to entertain your other guests.
