Young Geoffrey
It has recently been my great pleasure (and I use the term without any irony whatsoever; after all, I am shameless) to view the 17th season of Doctor Who.

Below are screen-caps of a delightful 30 second surprise from part 4 of City of Death.

I suspect there are at least 2 or 3 of you out there who will appreciate them. The rest of you can just bite me scroll on down.

Basil Fawlty Meets The Doctor

Basil Fawlty Thinks It's Art

God bless torrents, not to mention Ubuntu's excellent screen-capture technology.

That was a particularly awesome story. I didn't even notice the "art" when I watched it! I'm still running OSX, so I get around its refusal to do screen grabs by using VLC from SourceForge.

Awesome Indeed

Yeah, it's a really funny seen on re-view, isn't it? Except for the disappearance of the tardis, I can totally imagine a couple of pretentious art-snobs looking at the wooden box and taking it seriously as "art".

Leaving aside the incredibly cheap special effects, I found that the much slower pacing of those older episodes takes a little getting used to, compared to the revived version. But once I got past that, I'm finding them (almost) as compelling as I did when I was a kid.

Damn ...

Every time I pass these photos while scrolling through the ol' friends' list, I start giggling out loud. Cleese's pompous deadpan is fabulous.

Incidentally, Young Geoffrey ...

... there's little more pathetic in the LJ-world than padding your comment statistics by commenting on your own posts.

Grow up, sir! I say again: grow up!
